salty

YASMIN!

i have some bad news.
my computer is wicked broken and for awhile, i might be limited to posting when a computer is available for me to borrow... i will do my best!

BUT! i also have good news. i know what i want my bedspread to look like... you're relieved, i know.

feeling inspired by the quality of hubble telescope photos

and (?)
georgia o'keefe paintings

i went looking for a particular palette and texture for a bedspread that i could perhaps DIY myself. i wanted something in pastels that weren't too pastely but not all-the-way southwest-y either. and i wanted something nebulous and ephemeral in pattern... i've been looking for weeks and then today i FINALLY found the perfect answer...

photos of salt evaporation ponds!

(this (above) is the EXACT color palette i have in mind!)

these are real aerial photos. REAL LIFE! wikipedia describes salt evaporation ponds as
"shallow man-made ponds designed to produce salts from sea water or other brines..."

they are so beautiful and unearthly and mayan calender 2099...

so, can you help me figure out how to make this happen? how to make a bedspread that abstractly resembles one of these things...? you're so darn crafty and wise. i have a white duvet cover from ikea that's just itching to be dyed... what do you think? and while you're at it, let's get to work on my new bedroom.

see you tomorrow at the mloset.

excitement,
j
